Apart from being the perfect natural habitat for the Indian One-horned Rhinos and Wild Buffalos, Kaziranga National Park is also known for sheltering some of the most endangered species of beautiful and exotic birds. Over 300 species of birds including around 100 species of migratory birds are found in Kaziranga National Park. the birds in Kaziranga have the same characteristics as the Indo-Malayan type, typical to northeast India.
Kaziranga National Park is regarded as the 'Birding Paradise' of the northeast India. From a wide variety of Eagles to Swamp Partridge and from Red Jungle Fowl to Rose-breasted Parakeet, Kaziranga offers a unique excitement for bird lovers. The most prominent and commonly seen birds in Kaziranga National Park include the Swamp Partridge, White-cheeked Partridge, Blue-breasted Quail, Red Junglefowl, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Black-Shouldered Kite, Fulvous Whistling-duck, Himalayan Griffon, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Greater White-fronted Goose, Bar-headed Goose, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, Rose-breasted Parakeet, Oriental Honey Buzzard, White Tailed Eagle to name a few.
Among the most prominent migratory birds that visit the park during winters are Graylag Geese, Bar-Headed Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, Falcated Duck, and Red-Crested Pochard.
