An Ecological utopia, Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park
includes a National Park with an area of 108 Sq.km. It can be reached through Topslip in Anamalai Hills on the Western Ghats, adjoining Kerala on the West. This hill forest has thick growth of trees and a number of terrains
About 800 species of Indian flora are scattered here.
Some of the rare and endangered species of flora which are found in this sanctuary are: -

4. Habebarai reriflora.
5. Polypodum pleroupus
6. Alsophila
7. Bulbophyllum sp
8. Lasianthus uenuloses

11. Impaliens Elegans
12. Lycopodium cernum
13. Ranunculus reniformis and Osmunda Regulis.
This sanctuary also harbors animals like lion tailed macaque, bonnet macaque, Common Langur, Nilgiri Langur, Malabar Giant squirrel, Grizzled giant Squirrel, Tiger, Panther, Elephant, Gaur, Pangolin, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Wild Boar, Dhole, Sloth Bear, Porcupine, Nilgiris Tahr, Civet Cat and Toddy Cat. The birds of this particular region are Racket Tailed Drongo, Black Headed Oriole, Paradise Flycatcher, Whistling Thrust, Emerald Dove, Green Pigeon, Tickell's Flower Pecker, Rufus Wood Pecker, Rose Ringed Parakeet, Black Eagle, Great Indian Malabar pied Horn Bill, Fiary Blue Bird and green Billed Malkhoha etc.
The best time to visit the park is from January to February and June. It is suggested that you have your own vehicle to visit the park. It can be chilly in the winter.
If a person is visiting the park for the day he can go directly to Top Slip. To enter the park at Top Slip, it costs Rs 50, Rs 25 for a camera, Rs 50 for a video camera, and Rs 10 for a car. The park is open from 6 am to 6 pm for visitors.
Private vehicles can drive around in the park. A person can walk around the park. He can have a guide with himself and is allowed to walk in the park for a maximum of four hours for Rs 70 per person.
